the cpanel installer is only downloading the php 7 version of afterlogic, and cpanel still uses php 5.6. how do i get the installer to not download the php 7 version of afterlogic?

Hello,

There's probably a confusion here; when you download and run cPanel installer for v7 of WebMail Lite, it downloads a package called webmail-lite-php-7.zip but it doesn't mean "PHP 7", it means "WebMail Lite PHP v7". It was specifically tested with PHP 5.6 on cPanel. And if you're getting any issues installing the product on current cPanel version, please describe those in more detail.

Alternately, you can try cPanel installer of the latest v8 of WebMail Lite:
