Hi,

I cant seem to find anything about sorting IMAP messages. I am using the RetrieveEnvelopes Method. Can I sort by name, subject and date.

Would you suggest to retrieve all messages and merge headers into a SQL database for better handling. Then list all messages from SQL and display messges directly through the IMAP connection.

Thanks.

/ Kim

Sorted search is an extension to IMAP protocol, supported by a few mail server brands only. Due to its very uncommon thing, it's not supported by MailBee.

However, you can simulate the search by downloading envelopes for all messages, and then iterating through collection to sort by any fields you wish.

And you're right, using SQL database for headers is currently most reliable and efficient way to display messages using arbitrary order basis. Just make sure to use Unique-ID's instead of message numbers to match messages in IMAP mailbox and database to avoid syncronization loss.

Regards,
Alex

Hi Alex,

That could be a way - but how come it lists the first messages last? Can I list new messages first - like in the POP3 mail?

Thanks for you time.
