This happens because .NET 1.1 is set as default in AXMA virtual directory settings instead of 2.0. The solution is described here. Quotation:

Quote:
What version of .Net is your virtual directory set to use? It might be set to 1.1 instead of 2.0. Open IIS and navigate to your site right click --> properties --> home directory --> configuration --> make sure that each and EVERY asp.net extension is set to .net 2.0 isapi dll (C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\aspnet_isapi. dll)

Best regards,
Andrew

Please make sure that the XMail service doesn't stop itself a few seconds after it was started (Start - Control panel - Administrative Tools - Services - AfterLogic XMail Server). If it stops, run XMail.exe in debug mode:
Code:
XMail.exe --debug -Md
and send us the output for examination.

Also, please make sure that port 6017 is not blocked by any protective software. To check it, you may try to connect to mail server via telnet, e.g.
Code:
telnet localhost 6017

Regards,
Igor

The output indicates that port 25 required for SMTP access is blocked by another process, e.g. another SMTP server.

If it's not possible to find out what exactly blocks the port, for test purposes try to set another port for SMTP access in AfterLogic XMail Server by changing "SmtpPort" setting in the MailRoot\server.tab file.

Regards,
Igor
