I recently had issues with spam being sent via my server, and so decided to change my password in an attempt to stop it.

For information on my configuration, I am running hmailserver on a server 2008 R2 dedicated server.

After changing my password via hmailserver administrator, I get the error 'cannot connect to mailserver' when attempting to log in.

On enabling debug logging, and attempting again, the following log is generated (password has been obscured):

It appears that even changing the password back to what it was before will not allow me to log in. I have tried stopping and restarting the hmailserver process on my server, but still cannot log in.

I am running version 6.6.0 of the php version of webmail lite.

Edit: Found how to fix it. I removed the halt line from delete-account.php, then added my own account, and loaded the page to remove the account. On login, it then created a new account, and I can now log in again.

Perhaps, the server name was wrong (we had issues that sometimes OS normally finds localhost but not 127.0.0.1 or vice versa). Re-creation of the account loaded the correct values in IMAP server name again.
