hi there
ive just installed webmailite v7 via softalocous as a replacement for my version 6.x on a generic webmail site www.getmywebmail.co.uk
this site is used via my clients with various domain names hosted on the same VPS as the install to check their email
take a look at getmywebmail.co.uk, its all squashed up (the login screen) and once logged in its not much better at all and is unusable.
this has created a major headache for me now with my clients, either what have I done wrong or how do I go back to the previous version
thankls again

Version 7 of WebMail offers one skin only, it's referred to as "Default", please make sure you and your customers are using that skin. Default value is set in AdminPanel, while the skin used by the user is changed in their account settings. If you have upgraded the installation but kept the old skins, WebMail will attempt to reuse those which is going to result in issues you described. The upgrade procedure requires removing entire installation prior to making the upgrade, and that one probably wasn't done.

ive managed to fix the above issue using advice from a previous post and deleting previous install
however what does the following error mean than now flashes up when you log in ?
Data transfer has failed, probably due to server error. Please contact system administrator

There's some PHP-level error breaking the XML packet sent from server to browser. Though you can find that in web server logs, there might be a simpler option if your browser offers developer console - in Google Chrome, it's activated with F12 key. Open the console, log back in again and see what's shown in the console.

ive asked the guys who I get my vps off, and they said to ask the question
if there's a limit to the number of lines it can read or the size of a message
as the emails that seem to be causing the problem are large
this didn't happen in version 6 though, is there any way of going back to it ?

Well, we don't know what might be causing that until we see the error message. And I'm quite certain that email message size can't be a problem here, unless you hit memory_limit restriction of PHP. Try placing the following PHP script to your web root:
and open the script from web browser. In the output, look for memory_limit value. If it's a small value like 8-32M then this might be the reason indeed, and we recommend to talk to your host and check with them whether it's possible to increase memory limit for PHP. Having at least 100M set there is recommended.

Version 6 is available for download from here. Keep in mind that it's totally unsupported now.
