I am still in process of evaluation.
Question:
I build WebMail system, thus, I can be considered as direct competitor of yours (web mail is for internal use, not for resale, but how would you know that). I would say 50% of people buying your MailObjects will use it for similar (various WebMail applications). Question is what was the logic behind releasing WebMail as comercial product? I beleive by releasing it, you became competitor to your customers and your customers are now competing against you, which might make them search for another similar product. The only logical reason would be extremely good sales of WebMail product.
Why I said all above is because I am a bit anoyed by lack of examples showing solutions to issues re WebMail development and I am suspecting that is because you want to make it harder for your clients to develop product similar to what you offer. You might say that all above is not true, but, please take in consideration that I am customer and that is how I see it. I am sure that open source code for your Webmail system would boost your MailBee Objects product. VB.NET version of the same thing would double the effect. Open source WebMail would be useless without buying the licence for MailBee Objects, so the sale side will definately not suffer.
Now development questions:
-Could you please give the example of how to show mailMessage on web page. Just like your preview pane in Webmail. Please include the VB code if possible. (now you see what I think when I say release of WebMail as commercial product makes things more difficult for your clients. You would probably not be very happy to release this and even if you do, I would be suspicious that what you released is not the best code).
-There is no code available on how to use IMAP component (envelopes collection) as data source for GridView. Could you please provide an example for that.
-Do you have any white papers on building WebMail? If you know of any, please provide link. That would speed up my decission on buying the product.
I hope you will consider this a feedback from the feeld, as my intention is to let you know what my opinion as potential client is. As the price of your product is reasonable, I would probably not even think of making my own WebMail, but would buy yours and make small changes. The problem is company policy allowing VB code only, while your WebMail is available in C# only, so I have to buy product similar to mail objects and make my own version of WebMail.
I would be very happy to buy your docs for developing WebMail (if available) as addition to MailBee Objects.
All the best with your product.
Regards,
Alex

I'm not sure I understood the issue. We do offer (for free) the source code of MailBee WebMail Lite exactly for the purpose you mentioned - to promote MailBee Objects and MailBee.NET Objects and show how to build a webmail application including features like displaying message list, displaying a message, composing and sending a message, etc.

As from the above, you can find it in MailBee WebMail Lite sources.

Isn't this link helpful to you? Bind GridView to Inbox

The whitepaper is not available but you can download the source code which is (in my opinion) even better. BTW, the source code includes both AJAX and static HTML versions. Static HTML part is easier to understand so I would recommend to it as a sample to learn from.

Thanks for this, I was not aware of the WebMail lite code being available.
As it is not particuary commented and is not using IMAP, I will have to ask some more questions while evaluating. Will open new post for that.

Alex
