Hello Guys,
We just installed AL Webmail pro 7.7.9, I can’t find the proper setting into the admin panel, I need to set the Authentication Type to MD5 Challange-Response.

Currently we can’t send email through webmail.

Best,
Pierre

Hi Pierre,

It's outdated auth method (also, MD5 crypto has been cracked long ago and now considered weak). Nowadays it's far more popular to use SSL connection to the mail server. So we recommend using normal authentication method over TLS/SSL secure connection (e.g. port 465).

Regards,
Alex

What is the correct configuration to set into the admin panel for outgoing mail? I use Plesk with Dovecot latest version.

Just make sure you have "Use incoming mail's login/password of the user" set for SMTP authentication, "Use SSL" and port 465 set for SMTP server settings.

No way, impossible to send email.

Is there a problem in the configuration on my Dovecot?

We always used Courier with AfterLogic with the latest server without any problem, now we changed the OVH server and installing Plesk it comes with Dovecot now.

Dovecot is IMAP server; you should be looking at whichever SMTP server you're using (Exim, Postfix, etc.)

You can enable logging in webmail admin panel (Admin Panel / System / Logging) and try again. The log file will help understand the reason of the error.

Alex

Just one line is not enough. The log shows the entire history (how the connection was made, was it SSL or not, which auth methods the server supports, and so on).

For instance, maybe the log reveals that you're still trying to connect without SSL (and therefore the login fails), and so on.

Alex
