Is it possible to import an LDIF file?

Is that the only way to import contact groups as well?

Or does anyone know of another way to import an address book that also includes various groups?

Hi,

Only individual contacts can be imported, not groups. LDIF is not supported. Still, there is also a way to use LDAP address book directly but it's supported in the Aurora Corporate edition, not in WebMail Lite:

I think LDIF is a good option if you need to preserve the LDAP address-book structure, but I’m not sure it’s the only approach for groups. It would be worth checking whether WebMail Lite’s current import functionality supports group membership directly, rather than importing contacts first and recreating the groups manually.

If the groups are stored as LDAP attributes in the LDIF, the important question is whether WebMail Lite maps those attributes to its own contact-group structure during import. Has anyone tested this with a sample LDIF containing both contacts and group membership?

I’ve run into a similar limitation with contact imports. If the LDIF import doesn’t preserve group information, I’d also be interested to know whether there’s a recommended format or migration method that keeps the address book and contact groups intact. Hopefully someone from AfterLogic can clarify what’s currently supported.

Well, WebMail does not deal with LDIF. The closest option we have is VCF import/export, and yes, this format allows for importing groups as well as single contacts. My suggestion is to see whether you can export your existing contacts into VCF format, that would allow for importing them into WebMail.
