Hi all
Just started experimenting with Aurora files.
Seems to work very fine but i have one thing that i can not find.
Is there a way of resetting a users password from the admin side.
If a user forgets his password he will in fact loose all of his files.
Idealy to be able to reset the account and send out a new invitation link.
Best regards
Toby

Hello,
Indeed it's possible to reset user's password. Locate the user account under Users section of admin interface and switch to DB Auth tab:
Hope this helps.

I'd also add that, if you have 2FA module enabled in Aurora Files, and user is no longer able to log into their account due to, say, losing the phone - admin can disable 2FA for the account, too.

Hi Igor
Many thanks for lightning fast response. I see it now. I will also test the 2FA.
btw I have successfully installed Aurora files on Windows server IIS. I will do a step by step for this not to forget how it was done.
Best regards
Toby

Hi Igor,
I am logged in as superadmin.
When I follow your screeshot above instruction, the platform always jumps back to superadmin password reset.
I don't find an option to reset a user password.

By the way, unfortunately, there is on the login page
no “Forgot your password?” button.

This issue sometimes shows up due to caching, try purging your browser's cache - one of the ways to do it is open browser's console (F12 key), then click and hold Reload button, and select "Empty Cache and Hard Reload" option.

Make sure you're on the latest version, I believe this option was added for Aurora Files quite recently in version 9.7.7. You can determine the version number as shown here.
If you do run 9.7.7 indeed, make sure you have "Disabled" set to false in data/settings/modules/StandardResetPassword.config.json configuration file; once the module is enabled, you can configure it via adminpanel.

Thank you Igor,
I have updated to version 9.7.7.
I am very happy that I can now change a user's password in the admin panel.
But there are still some curious problems with the other features:
1 - Too bad that no 'test' mail can be sent.
2 - In the adminpanel I can set the mailing type. The smtp password, is not stored in the 'StandardResetPassword.config.json'.
3 - After I manually enter the password into the StandardResetPassword.config.json, the password disappears from the php file again when I click the 'save' button in the admin panel at mail configuration.
4 - no mail was sent.
5 - both users who used the 'Forgot password' option has in his user panel under 'Password reset settings' the notice and confirmation that the mail address is set. But no mail had been sent and the 'Change recovery mail' button no longer gives a response.
6 - one user when he uses the 'Forgot password' option again, gets the message “The recovery email for specified account was not found.” For the other user, using the 'Forgot password' button again does work and he gets a reset mail. (php-mailer does work)
Summary:
SMPT shipping I can't get running.
Although both users went through the same procedure, the effect responds differently.

Hello,
Thank you for your feedback. I must say I wasn't able to reproduce the issue with SMTP credentials, the password is saved to the configuration file just fine. Please note that it's saved there in an encoded fashion rather than in cleartext, so supplying it directly in the file won't work.
I suspect this may somehow be caused by the upgrade, could you try setting up a fresh install of Aurora Files and see if the issue occurs there as well? By the way, we have just released version 9.7.8 of the product, so you may wish to download that one, too.

Hi Igorrrr,
I think you are right and it is due to the upgrade from 9.7.? to 9.7.7.
...Please note that it's saved there in an encoded fashion...
OK, I understand that - smtp password cannot be entered manually. But then I should at least see the encrypted password like the superadmin password in the congig.json, right?
So when upgrading, this does not work properly.
...somehow be caused by the upgrade...
I installed a fresh v-9.7.8 on a small test server.
Mail with php-mailer, smpt I can't get to work.
.
Logged in as a user:
Password reset works fine.
'Change recovery email' button does not work!
For the superadmin in this fresh installation:
smtp password is put properly encrypted in the StandardResetPassword.config.json.

So, upgrading from 9.7.? to 9.7.7
I do still have the problem that on the live site I have a user where the password has not been reset, although this is listed as confirmed.
The 'Change recovery email' button does not work and on the login screen with 'Forgot password' the system denies the existence of the recovery email.

Hi Igor,
I am still on version 9.7.7
The problems I described above still exist.
A new one comes in:
New user does not receive 'Invitation' mail.
Any ideas?

First things first, we've recently released version 9.7.8 so you may wish to check if you encounter any issues with it. I would strongly recommend to run a blank install, rather than upgrading an existing installation, that would be a huge help towards narrowing down any issues.
Also, the use of PHP mail isn't exactly reliable, SMTP configuration is the recommended way to go.
If you still encounter any issues, you should study debug logs of Aurora Files, analyzing error logs of PHP/webserver may help as well.
Please bear in mind that community editions of our products do not come with guaranteed free support from Afterlogic. In case of Aurora Files, consider getting a commercial subscription which would get you entitled to requesting assistance from Afterlogic directly. Thanks.

Hi Igor,
Thanks, I understand you very well. And so I am very happy that you are providing a CE.
I also hope that the, maybe stupid mistakes that guys like me make, will help you to improve your product. Any bugs that lead to problems with us, can be avoided with the customers you have.
OK-
I made a blank installation of v.9.7.8. Then copied my complete 'data' folder from 9.7.7 to the new installation with 'overwrite existing files' option. And of course the database is also updated.
Almost everything works fine.
But..
The user, after entering a recovery mail address, cannot change it later. The button doesn't work.
Moreover, I still have one user who tried to set a reset mail address. In his dashboard, this mail address is indicated as 'set'. But when this user uses the 'Forgot password' option on the login page, the system does not recognize this mail address.
gr.

So this isn't a blank installation really, but an upgrade. So it's still unclear whether the issue occurs on a new install, unfortunately.
