Above was using an existing database (database_name substituted for actual for security) but have also tried with a brand new database and user with same results.

Have tried with Host = 127.0.0.1 and Host = localhost

Can't seem to get past this step in configuration. Hoping someone can please shed some light or offer suggestions. Thank you.

Give DB user full privileges (CREATE, ALTER, DROP).

 Use InnoDB as storage engine.

Disable strict SQL modes if enabled.

If installer fails, import schema .sql file manually.

Enable "debug": true in config.json for detailed logs.

That error usually means the installation process can’t create the required database tables — even though your connection credentials are valid. In Afterlogic WebMail Lite PHP, this often happens when:

The MySQL user doesn’t have full CREATE TABLE or ALTER permissions.

The database prefix (like au_) conflicts with an existing setup.

PHP’s open_basedir or permission settings restrict the app from executing SQL schema files.

 Try these steps:

Verify that your MySQL user has all privileges (CREATE, ALTER, DROP, INDEX).

In data/settings/config.json, double-check the "DbPrefix" setting — you can try leaving it empty.

Manually create the tables by running the SQL script from /data/sql/mysql.initial.sql in your database.

Then re-run the setup wizard or clear cache before testing again.

Once that’s sorted, you should see the tables like au_core_users appear automatically.

By the way, if you’re into testing your reflexes after debugging sessions, you might like mr flip — a fun arcade game where you guide a tiny character jumping between platforms with perfect timing. It’s simple but dangerously addictive — a nice way to reset your brain after hours of staring at log files!
