I may be missing something, but I cannot find any way of setting the mail sort order. At present, some folders are sorted descending date order and others mixed up. I THINK it is doing descending order using the date of being placed in folder rather than the mail date. I think it should be using the mail date.
It would also be good if users could select their preferred sort order, but I cannot see any such settings.

WebMail doesn't perform any sorting, it returns mails in the same order they're returned by IMAP server. Version 7 supports forcing messages being sorted by date, v8 doesn't currently have such a setting.
